Portland Welcomes you

Portland welcomes you!

You’ll find nothing quite like Portland’s vibrant, people-friendly Cultural District anywhere in the United States. Some have drawn comparisons to New York City and Washington, D.C., where cultural institutions border Central Park and the Mall. But here the focal point is a 12-block, linear stretch of greenery, statuary, flowers, green grass and tall trees known as the South Park Blocks.

You’ll know the Cultural District by the distinctive sign caps at each intersection between Market and Salmon streets to the north and south, and Broadway and Tenth Avenue from east to west. Beyond the district’s borders are other sites you’ll enjoy, such as Central Library and Pioneer Courthouse Square.

Take a stroll along the meandering paths of the South Park Blocks. It’s a short walk to any of the surrounding museums and theatres. Enjoy!

Explore Portland

"It's not easy being green" is the slogan of Portland, Oregon's favorite destination for travelers. And yes, they have had to work many years to make the city so attractive, starting with a pleasant location, good weather and the ability to grow anything throughout most of the year. Over the past four years, Portland has been lauded by several magazines as "one of the best cities in which to live" (Money), "reaching new levels of cool" (Travel & Leisure) and in the "top 25 art destinations" (American Style).
